Activities to do in Carolina Beach, North Carolina

Carolina Beach is bursting with exciting events and things to do. The action starts on the lively, classic beachfront boardwalk, with pizza, doughnut, ice cream stalls, and an arcade. Cast a line from the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier or go on an ocean fishing tour. Stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, or riding the waves on a float or surfboard are all fun ways to spend time in the water. Visit Carolina Beach Lake for a picnic, beach music, or seafood festival with the family. Whatever you select, you’ll discover distinctly Carolina Beach fun for all ages.

Carolina Beach is a beautiful area to come to all year. There are so many things to do in Carolina Beach that it’s simple to fill every day of your trip, and Wilmington is just a short drive away.

We aim to return to the North Carolina coast every year after attending college in Wilmington and having relatives in Carolina Beach. When we do, these are some of our favourite Carolina Beach activities. Expedia can help you skip the wait and reserve Flights to India from DC for exciting activities, attractions, and trips.

Take a fishing trip.

So you’re looking for something to do in Carolina Beach, North Carolina? Many visitors to the seaside village are only interested in fishing. In the Carolina Beach region, you may go fishing in various ways. However, make sure you have a valid fishing license before you begin.

If you’re fishing from a pier that costs a fish or on a charter fishing boat, you don’t need a fishing license (both carry special commercial requests that cover you).

Carolina Beach Disc Golf

Disc Golf is one of the most enjoyable Carolina Beach activities! There are four disc golf courses in the Wilmington region, all free to use. All you’ll need is a disc for $10 at some local stores.

Outdoor Provisions, C.B. Surf, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Amazon all have these, or you may offer an inexpensive set from Amazon.

Paddle around Zeke’s Island in a kayak.

Kayaking around Zeke’s Island is one of Cameron’s favourite things to do in Carolina Beach. Zeke’s Island is a Coastal Reserve in North Carolina only accessible by shallow-water boats.

You’ll be able to relax and enjoy the calm and quiet of the coastal marshlands once you arrive. It’s a fantastic chance to view all of Wilmington’s biodiversity. Dark-skinned plovers, relatively brief dowitchers, dunlin, golden ibis, and substantial blue herons are among the bird species seen here.

The Fort Fisher Aquarium is worth a visit.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher welcomes children and adults to learn about marine life, and it’s one of our favourite Carolina Beach activities.

Unlike several of the country’s huge aquariums, the Fort Fisher aquarium is a proper research facility rather than a cash cow. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has 230 accredited members, including N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Every day of the year, they have a lot of exhibitions and shows available, so no matter when you attend, you’ll have a fantastic time. You may also meet Luna, a rare albino alligator, and Maverick, a rescued bald eagle, at this location. In the spring and summer, they also offer a fantastic butterfly garden, and it is one of the most popular attractions in Carolina Beach.

Enjoy A Beach Bar Night

Beach bars are one of the top things to do in Carolina Beach. While both Carolina Beach and Kure Beach have beach bars, Carolina Beach is my favourite for beach nightlife. During the summer, the Island’s pubs attract a lively clientele.

Carolina Beach’s beach bars seem more “beachy” than Wrightsville’s, where the student congregates. Kure Beach is excellent but much quieter. Here are our favourite bars in Carolina Beach.

  • Pelican:

It is one of our favourite bars in Wilmington, if not the world. It’s quirky, full of character, and just crusty enough to be a dive bar. We adore the audience since there is no age restriction (21+), and everyone is welcome.

  • Grind & Crush

We appreciate the contemporary environment with artisan beer and wine. Try the owner’s cold brew coffee.

  • Tiki Grill:

Nothing beats relaxing on a pier ruin with a cool drink on a nice day. Our sole complaint is a $5 beer can and a $12 glass (we’re not in NYC!).

  • Witch of the Sea

Their vast open courtyard is famous in the summer.

Carolina Beach State Park Venus Flytrap Hunt

Going here is a must in Carolina Beach. Every day, I like watching the sunset at Carolina Beach State Park. We spent practically every evening at the park between 2018 and 2021. It’s a great place to watch the sunset and launch your boat into the Cape Fear River.

We also like hiking in the woods and admiring the magnificent trees. There are hundreds of beach pathways to explore in the region, and Sugarloaf Dune is well worth seeing for its spectacular views of the Cape Fear River.

Oh, and the Venus flytrap lives in Carolina Beach. That’s correct, and it’s one of the few spots in the world where you can discover a renowned carnivorous plant. If you’re fortunate and look, you could glimpse one from the path, but please don’t trample on the foliage and stay on the trails. One of the most remarkable things to do in North Carolina is visiting this park.

Surfing Lessons

The coast of North Carolina boasts ideal surfing conditions, and it attracts a large surf population and is an excellent site to learn to surf. You may hire a surfboard and go out on your own, or you can take a class, which I strongly suggest. When booking your Dallas to India Flights and accommodation, you can make your holiday even more affordable.

The ocean is no joke, and it can be pretty deadly if people don’t understand what you’re doing or aren’t comfortable with the situation. Tony Salvaging offers surf camps, rentals, and instruction.

Boardwalk Walk At Carolina Beach

The Carolina Beach Boardwalk is a beautiful family activity in Carolina Beach. You won’t be disappointed. Whether you want to stroll down the boardwalk or ride the attractions in the summer, the Carolina Beach Walk is the place to be. It’s been called one of America’s top boardwalks. It used to be a bit derelict, but it’s in recent years. There are new pubs and eateries on the beachfront that overlook the sea.
